Weekly Command Center

A week
with intention.

Your planning routine.
One small place to begin.

Weekly Command Center is a lightweight macOS launcher. Keep the app and its scripts together, add the steps that work for you, and start your routine with a double-click.

A little structure. Room for your own ritual.

A tool, not another subscription

Small enough to understand.
Open enough to change.

This is a launcher template, not a finished planning dashboard. Its starting script intentionally does nothing until you add your own logic. There are no accounts, paid services, or hidden connections.

01 / Get started

Keep the little stack together.

  1. Download and unzip.

Keep scripts/ beside Weekly Command Center.app. Move the whole folder anywhere on your Mac.

  2. Add your routine.

Open scripts/launch.sh in a text editor. The marked section is where your weekly planning steps go.

  3. Double-click to begin.

Successful launches stay silent. Missing scripts and script failures display a clear error instead of disappearing.

What if macOS asks about the downloaded app?

The included app is unsigned. Review the source, then use Finder’s Open action or the explicit Open Anyway control in Privacy & Security if offered. Do not disable Gatekeeper globally. You can also compile the source yourself.

Compile your own app from source

In Terminal, change into the unzipped folder and run:

chmod +x scripts/launch.sh scripts/grocery.sh
osacompile -o 'Weekly Command Center.app' 'Weekly Command Center.applescript'

Or open the source in Script Editor and export as Application. Leave “Stay open after run handler” and “Show startup screen” unchecked.

02 / Make it yours

The routine is yours.
The launcher stays out of the way.

The shell template uses set -euo pipefail and locates its own directory. Its behavior does not depend on where you start it.

An optional grocery helper is included as an empty connector hook. Set WCC_RUN_GROCERY=1 when you have added the integration. Grocery lists and family automations are possibilities, not connected services.

03 / Take it with you

Portable by design.

The launcher first checks WCC_LAUNCH_SCRIPT, then scripts/launch.sh beside the app, then Contents/Resources/scripts/launch.sh inside the bundle. An invalid override displays an error.

Point Finder at a different launch script
launchctl setenv WCC_LAUNCH_SCRIPT "$HOME/my-planning/scripts/launch.sh"

Use your actual path. Quit the app and reopen it. This applies to the current login session. Remove it with launchctl unsetenv WCC_LAUNCH_SCRIPT. Exporting a variable only in Terminal does not change Finder’s environment.

Share the whole folder so the app and scripts travel together. For a self-contained bundle, put the scripts inside Contents/Resources/. Public signing and notarization would require your own Apple Developer identity.

Begin with one useful step
